101 Evaluation of Vitamin D on Performance and Bone Mineral Density in Finishing Pigs

Abstract The objective of this study was to evaluate the vitamin D3 (vitD) and 25-hydroxy D (25-OHD) requirements for finisher pig performance bone density. Seventy-two pigs (62 ± 11.1 kg BW) were allotted 36 pens (n = 2 pigs/pen) across 4 dietary treatments 9 pens/trt) 51 d. Corn-soybean meal mash diet were: 1) Diet containing 75 IU/kg vitD; 2) 150 vitD (NRC requirement); 3) 750 4) As 1 plus 0.0125% 25-OHD achieve total equivalent vitD.
